1. Literacy.
This is a literate, Disney roleplaying forum. Not semi-literate, not moderately-literate. We would like to keep literate writers on this site and that's due to the fact that it makes roleplaying more pleasurable for everyone. If you do not fit the standards to this site, then it would be in your best interest not to apply. In no way are we trying to sound rude, but we're just forewarning. Anyone is welcome to apply, but no application is guaranteed acceptance.
+This, of course, does not mean that someone who accidentally spells a few words wrong will be denied. After all, we all make typos and they are all understandable. Not all of us have spell check and sometimes we may feel that we have spelled something correctly when, in fact, it is wrong. Denial would be initiated only if a person does not keep the same tense, makes many grammar errors and proves to us, the Admins, that they are not capable of writing something that can be comprehended by the reader. This is why we require a roleplay sample with your application. However, if your application sample and your roleplay threads are very different, we will notice.
2. Word-Count.
There is a 200 word minimum for posts. We don't think that's anything too harsh, considering we know we all get into periods where we have a lack of inspiration, and there are times in storylines where there isn't much one can say. This rule doesn't limit word counts, though. If you're in the mood to write a 1,500 word post, then by all means, go for it!
+The 200 word count does not mean that you will be banned if you don't make 200. It is simply a suggestion and a guideline. We would like everyone to write at least 200 words, even ourselves as the admins. Understand that we do know that inspiration gets hard to come by. If you'd like to go over the count, as Rapunzel said, go ahead! However, if you only supply one paragraph and it doesn't give your fellow members much to reply to, you may be in danger of your storyline dying. If you need any help with ideas, ask Rapunzel or myself [Facilier]! We'll help you swat that writer's block away!
3. Canon Characters.
There is a limit of three canon characters per person; they can be male, female, and animal, etc. Whatever you would like! Original characters are also not allowed on this site, either. Disney is such a large universe in itself, that we believe there isn't a need to have original characters. We apologize for any inconvenience.
+Pertaining to the canon limit. Yes, we are all allowed three canons each. Depending on how popular the site gets, we may expand the number. We also may leave it at three, it simply depends. The point of a canon limit is to allow other members more opportunities to be the character they wish. If we allowed limitless canons, there may be someone who would roleplay the majority of the list and leave less for other members to play as. You see, so it is to keep opportunities open. Three per person. Separate accounts for each character.
+Pertaining to the OC rule. OCs are naturally very well written, but every now and then we will encounter a rainbow haired girl who's parents were some random family in the House of Mouse and they were murdered by Ursula or something-- it's too much blasphemy to even be understood. As Rapunzel stated, for now, there are no OCs being accepted. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience, but it may change in the future. Again, it depends.
4. God-Modding.
Will not be tolerated in any shape or form. It's as simple as that. No one likes it when they're roleplaying with a god-modder, so please refrain from doing so.
+God-Modding applies to every member. Why, even the admins cannot god mod, so why should the members? God-modding ruins roleplay storylines and frustrates the other members to want to either quit the story or just leave. God-Modding can be seen in many different ways, but some examples include:
;---> Dodging every attack.
;---> Gaining no injury.
;---> Ignoring parts of the post you do not like, such as if Hades was pitching a deal and threw Meg into the ocean, yet Hercules writes that he's standing by Meg and Hades did nothing to her. Understand?
;---> Controlling the other members' characters.
;---> Instant-killing characters.
;--->Ensured injuries, such as "Prince Phillip stabbed the evil Maleficent and killed her." This is a no-no, yah dig?
+If we see anyone god modding, we will speak to them at once. They will receive a warning and, if they do such an act again, we will debate on a temporary or permanent ban. If you see anyone god modding, and we have not addressed the issue, you may PM all the admins, explaining the issue and showing proof, if you can.
5. Respect.
Give respect to all members of this site. We don't care whether they are staff, an old member, or a new member. Everyone will be respected to the fullest. If you don't like someone on the site, then keep it outside of the forum. Drama will not be tolerated, and the staff reserves the right to ban anyone who causes a great deal of it. You have been warned.
+ We will not tolerate drama on this site, as Rapunzel has stated. Drama does nothing but tear a site apart. If anyone is causing a great deal of drama and making the board's environment hostile and uncomfortable, we will ban them. Of course, we will not ban a member for no reason. When we do ban someone, we will tell them in advance why they are being banned, show evidence as to why, and then ban them. If someone you dislike greatly joins the forum, but you wish to stay and roleplay, simply ignore them. I would like to think we're all mature here and we can simply get along. Swallow your pride.
6. Stealing/Plagiarizing
No one likes having their hard work stolen, with that being said, if there comes a situation where someone is stealing character posts, applications, graphics, and the like, action will be taken. Respect everyone's work and do not claim it as your own.
+I speak from personal experience in this category. Being stolen from is a terrible feeling and it does not simply blow over. If someone is stealing character posts, applications, graphics and/or anything else of the sort, you may PM all the Admins and let them know, showing them evidence and arguing your case. We will take action and do what we can to prevent it. Please do not outwardly accuse someone in C-Box, causing a big mess of drama. Be mature.
7. Character Profiles
Once your application is accepted, you will be asked to place a 100x100 sized icon as your display. If this isn't done, then the staff will take it upon themselves to do it for you. Also, we would appreciate it if your display name was your character's name. It can be first name, or full-name. That much doesn't matter. Just make sure it is your character's name. For example, 'Sleeping Beauty' wouldn't be acceptable, but 'Aurora' would be.
+ This is very basic and self explanatory. You simply need to have your character's name as your display name, so we know who you are. Also, please do not clog up your signature area with a million signatures. You may change your icon and signature as you wish, but we ask for no stacking, please. It causes a mess in threads, which will be explained in the next rule.
+ Also: very important. If you submit you application as a (WIP), then you have up to one week from your last revision to finish the application. If you are not finished, we will deny you. But, don't be discouraged! You simply need to submit the finished application and we will go over it!! It is simply to make sure you are serious about playing your character. If you need an extension, you need only PM all the admins and let us know!
8. Signatures.
Keep all signatures at a proper size. Obviously, you will know if they are too big if they stretch out the boards. If this pertains to you, you will be asked to resize your signature to a reasonable size.
+Asking you to resize your signature should not be taken as an insult. We simply wish to have the boards stay the same and not be stretched farther out than they already are. Please, do not take it as offensive. As an artist, I do understand that you want people to see your work.
9. Activity.
We understand real life comes calling, but just drop us a message and let us know if you'll be gone for an extended period of time! We'd feel awful if we gave away your character if you happened to leave, then come to find out you're back later on. Also, activity checks will be issued the second week of every month. If you know you will be absent for an activity check, let a staff member know.
+Activity checks are to ensure, like Rapunzel said, that you can keep your character. The activity check is simple: when we issue the check, you simply post that you are still active. However, if you only log on to post that you are active, we will know. We can see all the roleplays and if we know you're not active, we may discuss some things with you. Not to sound rude, but simply to make sure everything is all right. You may have writer's block for all we know.
+As for the "alerting us when you will be gone" option. Say your internet goes out and there's no way to get to a computer. Simply have a friend from the forum say that you are having issues. There are libraries, Starbucks-- many places that have Wi-fi. Even if it is for just a moment, you can easily get us a message, somehow, that you will be absent for quite some time. There are plenty of ways to post on here, even if it's just in C-Box. We check the C-box daily, so we are bound to get your message.
10. Have fun~[/i].
+ Of course! That is what this is all about, is it not? Have a blast!! All + marks are edits done by Doctor Facilier.
All members are encouraged to sign this board stating their character's name and a simple Read and Understood message. Thank you. We appreciate you reading through our rules. Let the magic begin! [/color]
